Edgardo Fernández Sesma writes: “I’ve been working for the last two months on an exciting queer tango project: tango queer y diversidad. For the first time the University of Buenos Aires, the largest in the country, is throwing open its doors for a multi-media queer tango event. We chose November because it is the month of our Pride March and of the Festival Internacional de Tango Queer. Throughout November, all five floors of the big Social Sciences building (27,000 students and 2,000 teachers) will have pictures of queer tango hung on its walls, including some of this year’s Queer Tango Salon in Paris. In the Great Hall where all the students and teachers are constantly coming and going, we will be doing all sorts of activities to accompanying the photos, including showing videos of queer tango. We will be closing with an unprecedented queer tango performance in which dancers will be protesting against the murder of trans women in our country.”
